Physical and chemical properties of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose:
1. Appearance: white or almost white powder.
2. Granularity; 100 mesh pass rate is greater than 98.5%; 80 mesh pass rate is greater than 100%.
3. Carbonization temperature of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose: 280-300℃
4. Apparent density: 0.25-0.70/cm3 (usually around 0.5g/cm3), specific gravity 1.26-1.31.
5. Discoloration temperature: 190-200℃
6. Surface tension of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose: 2% aqueous solution is 42-56dyn/cm.
7. Soluble in water and some solvents, such as ethanol/water, propanol/water, trichloroethane, etc. in an appropriate ratio. The aqueous solution has surface activity. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose dissolution method:
1. Take the required amount of hot water, put it in a container and heat it to above 85°C. Gradually add this product with slow agitation. The cellulose initially floats on the surface of the water, but it is gradually dispersed to form a uniform slurry. Cool the solution with stirring.
2. Alternatively, heat 1/3 or 2/3 of the hot water to above 85 ---, add cellulose to obtain hot water slurry, then add the remaining amount of cold water, keep stirring, and cool the resulting mixture.
