  • Rare Metal Metallurgy: An efficient extractant for the separation of Zirconium (Zr) and Hafnium (Hf). Due to the steric effects of its branched structure, its selectivity for separating zirconium and hafnium can sometimes be superior to TBP, playing an important role in the industrial production of nuclear-grade zirconium and hafnium.

  • Other Metal Separation: Also used for the extraction and separation of metals such as Vanadium (V), Molybdenum (Mo), and Tungsten (W).

  • Nuclear Fuel Processing: Can be used as a substitute for TBP or in mixtures with TBP in nuclear fuel reprocessing cycles, though its application is not as widespread or classic as TBP's.

  • Coatings and Inks: Used as a high-boiling-point solvent in coatings, inks, and adhesives to improve leveling and prevent blushing.
